Sharpness Test

This test was based off of Hooke’s Law the spring constant, using a deflection gage I used three different thicknesses of string .75mm, 1.5mm, and 4.0mm. By watching the deflection gage with an arm of 24inches and a spring constant of 2.5oz to move the arm one inch, I was able to see how much force it took to cut through the string. I ran five controlled test on each string thickness and averaged the result, then I converted the final result to in,lbs of force.

The two control tests are with a Snap-on razor blade and a standard Stanley razor.
